RAY'S CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

SCHOLARSHIPS

Ray's Charitable Foundation, in association with the OSAC (Oregon Student Assistance Commission), awards higher education Scholarships each year to eligible employees and/or dependents. The criteria for the selection are described in detail below.

Over the past 3 years, the Ray's Charitable Foundation has awarded 13 $5,000 scholarships. In 2013 the Foundation will add 8 more recipients to the list.

How Winners are Selected

Step 1: OSAC produces a list of the Foundation's selection pool. They do that through the creation of a query on or before May 20 each year. They match the criteria of the Foundation's program to the initial list of verified employees and dependents of employees.

Step 2: OSAC presents the list of the selection pool along with the Foundation's program agreement to their internal Selection Committee who selects recipients for the Foundation awards.

The committee uses the following criteria when making their decision.

  • Any HS
  • First-time freshman
  • Undergrad
  • USA colleges
  • Eligible employees and dependents of eligible employees of C&K Market, Inc. and C&K Express
  • Residence (state): Oregon or California
  • GPA (preference): High school seniors, 3.00+; college students, 2.50+
  • FAFSA: Required - financial need may or may not be considered
  • One-time award

Step 3: OSAC notifies the Foundation and the awarded students by e-mail. The award notification asks them to accept the terms of the program. (They attempt to contact each student at least three times for a response. One of the attempts includes a paper mailing through the postal service.
